Armenia is the coffee capital of Colombia. The local church is growing, and busy developing outreach programs. It is located in a building with sufficient space to provide housing for a group of elderly. The space needs a little work to make it elder-friendly, but the parish is confident it will be worth the effort. An abandoned farm in a nearby poor neighborhood was rehabilitated into a school by the city. After a new school was constructed across the street, the building was given to the community. It now serves as a mission church for Santo Tomas and a community center. The parish is working on proposals to improve the building and expand services to the local community.
